Dear Loyal Among Women Readers:
I write this heartfelt letter to you, our loyal, trusted reader to inform you that my husband and I have decided to close our business and cease publishing Among Women with the April issue being our last. This is a very challenging economic season and we are not exempt from the same struggle that most small businesses are facing today.
As you probably know, advertising is what supports the opportunity to provide you all with a free subscription. As local businesses face the economic downturn, they cut expenses from their marketing budgets and consequently, our business experienced the domino effect of those cuts.
I cherish each and every woman reader and felt honored that you have allowed us to feature you in our inspiring stories.
I want to thank you all for LOVING the magazine, for the woman that would stop me in a store and say “I love your magazine…keep up the good work.” For the woman that would write a note on the subscription card “I love the magazine and can’t wait for each issue.” For the subscribers that would send in checks for a free subscription with a notes that said, “Please accept this to help cover the cost of my subscription…I know other women would pay for it too.” And for the women that would call and say things like, “Great issue. Thank you for stories among women. It’s a great magazine. It makes a difference in my life. I saw it at the doctor’s office and just loved it. I would like to subscribe.”
The foundation of the magazine was to give back to the community and we had the opportunity to do that for five wonderful and fun years. I have remained tenacious in this journey and have not given up amidst vast challenges and I still will not give up.
With that…keep watch. This is not the end of the story it’s the beginning!

I HAVE YET TO DECIDE
I plan to take some time to figure out what is next for me, to listen for the message that tells me where I am to hang my shoes. I can tell you that I am excited about the future. One thing I know for sure is that I’ve activated my passion providing a forum for women's voice and I don’t see myself silencing it. I have significant experience marketing to women and love everything about marketing. I also know that we need to do more for women and girls, banishing some of the negative media messages that inundate our lives.
